Client Benefits
Our knowledge and experience of the sectors in which we operate combined with our distinctive underwriting, claims and risk engineering service make Lavaretus a compelling market choice.
Knowledge and experience
Our team has a strong reputation in the marine and energy industry with over 100 combined years of experience. We serve our clients with tailored insurance and risk engineering solutions delivered by a dedicated team available 24 hours a day.
We are market leaders in floating power units with nearly 30 floating power, desalination and industrial process units operating in more than 15 countries. We have developed a unique composite product covering construction and operational phases and the marine, non-marine and machinery breakdown exposures under a single policy, avoiding the potential for duplication of cover or gaps.
Our experience in insuring the transport of large and complex machinery for our floating power clients as well as the completed barge as heavy-lift cargo, led us to develop project cargo insurance for exporters and contractors with major international construction or erection projects.
Claims service
In the event of a claim our primary aim is to settle your loss as quickly and efficiently as possible. Our knowledge gained through our underwriting approach gives us a strong advantage.
Our claims and survey teams have experience managing the whole spectrum of marine insurance claims, from marine hull collision through cruise construction to power barge engine crank shaft or genset replacement.
We give you access to 24 hour emergency response teams and together with our unique network of global survey partners and independent average adjusters we always have the right skills and resources for you as a client of Lavaretus.
Underwriting style
Our underwriters are empowered to write all classes of insurance within our chosen spheres and we can accept up to 100% of the risks we underwrite depending on the class, with many of our policies bringing together different elements of cover, for example to include delay in start-up under our shipbuilding policies. This helps to avoid duplication in cover or, worse, gaps in insurance protection.
At the heart of our service is partnership and flexibility. We like to meet our clients with their broker so that we have a better understanding of the risk being insured and their risk management capabilities. We believe that working with our clients to help them improve their risk management helps us to provide more competitive solutions and a higher quality service.
When it comes to the policy wording we provide cover on standard market terms as well as having our own broad forms of cover but are equally happy to consider variations or other policy wordings.
Risk management - taking decisions to manage risks
Lavaretus Risk Engineering's unique team, which is a part of an international group of risk specialists, has a proven success serving major shipowners Nordic and global.
We have developed high calibre, risk-based services that create mutual benefits for our underwriters and their customers.
We are able to assist shipowners through our underwriting team, claims services or where a client needs specific consultancy work.
Our objective in risk management is not to eliminate risk, but to quantify and control it, to alter risk profile according to the prevailing market conditions, risk preferences, and potential regulatory or contractual requirements.
Where our services are required, we want to be locally represented with a global touch; therefore our surveys are undertaken by our network of trusted surveyors. We have established a network that works on the same Quality Assurance, ensuring our customers see the uniformity in our deliveries.
